Vaccines, Current Reads & Writing

This week was a very busy week for me, like most weeks even when every day feels like groundhog day.

On Tuesday I received my very first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, something which I'm very grateful for, and now it's been five days I feel completely normal after a couple days feeling sick (which is normal). Before having the vaccination I felt really anxious to be outside or just going to a grocery store where there's a lot of people, but now I feel much more confident and feel like I'm slowly getting my life back even with all the restrictions will in place.

After the events of the past few days, I needed to treat myself to a new book and that was Dead Moons Rising by Jack Whitney this is a New Adult Dark Fantasy novel about the journey of Queen Aydra Ravenspeak who rides into a forest during the Dead Moons where she is injured and taken in by an enemy king to recover. While recovering, her entire world is shattered when she finds out her entire life is a lie and a war is brewing.

So far I am really enjoying this book. It's taken me a bit longer than I would like and that's because my reading slump won't go away hahaha. When my reading slump allows me to get sucked into this, I pick up my e-reader multiple times to get it read because I have to know what happens next. I really like the dynamic between Aydra and Draven, and discovering the world Whitney has created is great to explore. In next weeks blog there will more than likely be a full review of this book.

Do I know what I want to read next? Nope.

However, last Friday somebody very, very kindly gifted me The Bargainer by Laura Thalassa from my Amazon wish list. This might be my next read.

This came as a big surprise and it didn't come with a note, so I have no idea who bought it for me, which is sad but cool. Whoever my mysterious purchaser is, THANK YOU! I am excited to dive in, I've only read Rhapsodic (Bargainer #1) so far and can't wait to read the rest.

Strangely this went to my old address, so my ex-landlord came to my new house with the package, even though I definitely changed my address when I moved at the start of this year. With this unexpected new addition to the shelf, I managed to move some of my books around on my bookcase to be able to accommodate this huge chonk of a book!

What are you currently reading? How have you been?

Updates on REBOUND, it's currently being edited and let me tell you, this book is chonky at the moment. Last week I was talking plot developments, stupid spelling mistakes I keep

making and loads of other stuff. It's been fun to talk to my editor about the characters and their journey throughout both books, it was quite interesting to see another persons perspective on it.

Now this book is getting all polished up, I'm just cracking on with trying to market both books and excited to see how the first round of changes play out. After the first, we're going to keep going back and forth with making sure this is as polished as possible. It's exciting to be going through this again.

Also, while REBOUND is getting polished up I have nothing else to do but write the next book! I finally have a code name for the book which is T.S.P.R; title will be coming at a later date. Any guesses on the title?

Honestly writing this book has been such a challenge but so freaking fun! I am laughing so much with my characters interactions with other characters.

I have been giving this to beta readers and it's weird because they keep saying I sound like a Fantasy author having changed my writing style to accommodate it, and they then compare my Fantasy writing to names like Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L. Armentrout (which is insane).

Then to make matters worse, I may or may not have begun to work on a new Dystopian book series thingy.... why am I working on two books at the same time? I don't know. But I'm pacing myself, focusing on TSPR for now and then cracking on with the Dystopian one. I will have four books before I know it which is insane.
