August reads + Update

Wow, time is just out the window for me lately, that's so fun, I just blinked and we're already in mid-September. Well this is what I read in August. There hasn't been much because of an oh-so fun reading slump.

I'm going to focus on the positives this month. Starting with An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

There aren't many books who make me forget I live in the real world, I'd be reading this book and just be instantly transported to Blackcliff Academy and the Empire. I would be flying through chapters within the matter of an hour and the writing style was breath taking. I went through so many emotions, anger, sadness, happiness. I love all the characters.

I would have finished it in three days but I didn't want it to end and was delaying getting to the end on purpose. Even though I have the full series and I now need to read A Torch Against the Night!

Only negative was I was told this would be an epic fantasy story with lots of magic, there wasn't, but it was definitely more on the Dystopian side which is okay. I think the Fantasy element will come later in the series.

Re-reading this brought back so many memories and it was just as good as the first time. I loved every moment of this book, I loved reliving what I experienced the first time, the fight I felt for Rowan to beat his enemies and Citra's character growth.

UPDATE

August wasn't a great month. My laptop exploded which threw a lot of things up in the air in terms of my writing, it was very frustrating and I really couldn't afford a new laptop; but I managed it! While my laptop was in the repair shop I was busy working on editing T.S.P.R and getting that ready for beta readers.

Now that T.S.P.R is out to beta readers I have a lot of time on my hands to work on the second book in the series, plan NANOWRIMO, and read. My editor is expecting T.S.P.R in November so I'm working on making it as good as possible for them, I'm teaching myself formatting behind the scenes and working on the second books cover. I finalised all the titles in the future quartet and so excited to share more!
